Governor Paterson and Microsoft Team Up to Give Away Free Computer Training to the Unemployed

"Elevate America" Program to Provide Basic and Advanced Technology Training to Job Seekers Statewide

Governor David A. Paterson announced today that New York State will join the "Microsoft(r) Elevate America" program. The program offers free technology training to job seekers throughout the state.

Microsoft will work with the NYS Department of Labor to distribute a total of 71,000 vouchers for online training and certification through One-Stop Career Centers across the state. Courses range from basic technology literacy to intermediate- and advanced-level technology skills training. A portion of the vouchers will be issued to New York State residents for Microsoft Certification Exams, at no cost to the recipients.
